Summary: | <p>Wood is one of the materials with better thermal qualities, but in short supply in our Latin American countries by the mismanagement that has been made of this resource. The aim of this article is to present the environmental benefits of one of the most popular materials worldwide. Its physical and thermal properties, degradation phenomena and preservation treatments are shown. However, facing these important environmental qualities we must be cautious due to excessive felling that points out Mexico as one of the most carefree world countries in this regard, and it forces us to consider other alternatives such as bamboo. The reference texts are mainly Italian —allowing us to have a European viewpoint— and there are others by Mexican restaurateurs who have had a long experience working with wood.</p> |
