This genre is regarded as one of the forms of organizing the leisure culture that has been developing in the late Modernity and meeting various needs of a modern person. It is argued that the impact of the crime fiction genre on the recipient may not be identified as merely positive or negative. Despite the transition from creating unique items to the mass and commercial product manufacturing, general deterioration in the quality of conveyor­type literary texts, they still fulfill a number of vital anthropological functions in the modern culture, which determine consciousness of a contemporary person. On the whole, these functions encourage overcoming the cultural crisis, support and enforce moral norms and the rule of law, which ensure the overall social order. Regarding the impact of the crime fiction consumption on an individual, it is stated that competent reading provides a person with an opportunity to train his or her techniques of self­control and self­limitation, develop logical reasoning, feeling of personal responsibility for their actions, and also learn different ways of self­realization, simulating and correcting their behaviour in the environment he or she lives in.https://grani.org.ua/index.php/journal/article/view/482культура споживаннякриза Модернукримінальний жанрнормимасидеградаціякультурне читання
