| Summary: | <p>The book entitled “Direito da Saúde Animal” (in English language: Animal Health Law), written in Portuguese language by Luciano Rocha Santana and Thiago Pires Oliveira, brings together three chapters on various animal health issues in the light of Animal Law. So, this work shows the relevant Brazilian legislation about animal health surveillance and control of zoonoses. After examining the rules applicable to the so-called “farm animals”, in parallel with the protection of the so-called “companion animals” under the new public policy paradigm named “responsible guardianship” that the authors propose as a groundbreaking concept in comparison with “responsible ownership”, using Comparative Law to present aspects related to the same issue in Italy, Switzerland, Argentina and Chile.</p>
