Description
Summary:Object and purpose of research. Assessment of ratio between resonant and non-resonant sound radiation from an area on circular cylindrical shell between transverse barriers, excited by radial point force. Materials and methods. Ratio between resonant and non-resonant sound radiation levels at the lower resonant fre- quency of natural vibration for the shell with varying radius and length. The levels of the sound radiation components obtained using the formulas yielding correct results for adopted physical models. Main results. The study yielded the relationships for the ratio between resonant and non-resonant sound emission of the variable-radius shell with respect to its length. Conclusion. It was found that radius and length of shell can be selected so as to mitigate point force-induced noise radiation.
