Description
Summary:The article presents some projects of military cooperation dev eloped between Romania and Austria-Hungary during the peri od from 1883 until 1914. These projects oscillated between neutrality, defensive and eventually an offensive role for the Romanian army. The main enemy in this part of Europe seemed to be Russia, thus the plans included only the attitude of the two armies in a presumably large scale war with this empire. In 1912, given the turmoil in the Balkans, the Austrian general, Conrad von Hötzendorf came to Buc harest to debate a military convention with King Carol I and Alexandru Averescu (Chief of the Romanian General Staff).
