Summary:The Paraguay War (1864–1870) was one of the most tragic and the most decisive events in the process of formation of national states in the Cuenca del Plata. In the region new borde-ring tensions were defined and put into play the interests of Argentina and Brazil, largely as a result of the defeat of the Paraguayan nation. The mentioned conflict has been a little problem addressed in textbooks of the countries of the Triple Alliance, with the exception of Paraguay. Our inquiry focuses on trying to explain how the issue is addressed in education | 139systems of Argentina and Uruguay. To this, school textbooks of these countries are analyzed comparatively, trying to establish the historiographical perspective of the authors, the space assigned to the issue and in particular the similarities and differences between these corpora.
