Summary: | Due to the lack of understanding of spasticity across different medical disciplines, the approach and treatment strategies vary considerably among clinicians. This is further disjointed in health systems around the world due to differences in training, resources and infrastructure. Spasticity guidelines available in the literature mainly focus on clinical or specialized aspects of care. The vast majority of patients in the community across the world do not have access to specialized treatment of spasticity. To meet these requirements, this article calls for professional organizations to take the initiative at the international level to develop guidelines by involving stakeholders across different levels of health systems. |
