| Summary: | This study aims to analyze how Lcio Cardoso relates the construction of the space to the characters personalities in the novel Crnica da casa assassinada, published in 1959. The work presents, as the main characters, the Meneses family. The space and the time are two important elements for the comprehension of the characters personalities and the neuroses which control them. Another important element is the relation between the cancer of Nina and the decadence of the house and of the family, because, the end of the spaces also represents the end of the Meneses family. Bachelard (1993); Fortes (2010) e Loredo (2007) principles will be used to base this analysis.
