Summary: | Violence in lower secondary school is more present in deprived backgrounds than in another social environment. However, strictly school factors are also important in violence experience. Why, in equivalent sociological profile, a number of school establishments succeed better than others in doing good school atmosphere? According to results of international research, we adopt the hypothesis that a preventive atmosphere against violence depend on a strong and respectful management, kindly to the teachers and to the pupils. The effective management regard the pupils with their difficulties and their potentialities.The method of this paper is an analysis from a documentary produced by Thierry Delestrade in 2001, entitled “Madame la Principale”. The film presents the life of a lower secondary school in Saint-Denis (suburb of Paris), well-known to be difficult for teachers. “Madame la Principale” manage this school for three years at the time of the documentary.The analysis of sequences shows the specifications of a management able to regulate many conflictual situations and anticipate violence at school. The necessary conditions for the reduction of incidents are located in a fair and effective management of the life of the school that improve the atmosphere of the school.
