Summary:This article analyzes and systematizes the rules which regulate the recognition of foreign judgments in Brazil. An opening of the Brazilian legal system to international procedural standards was observed, explicitly confirmed by the Brazilian Civil Procedure Code of 2015, confirming the existence of four systems of recognition of foreign sentences in Brazil: ordinary system, mercosuline system, arbitration system and extraordinary system. The adequate understanding of the ways of doing a foreign judicial or arbitral award produce effects in the national order is essential to the effective judicial protection. The deductive-comparative method was used, based on indirect bibliographic and documentary sources.
