Description
Summary:Tissue engineering (TE) is a fast growing field of research that aims at creating functional biological replacements for the human body. It requires specific conditions favorable for tissue regeneration, and the outcome of the engineered tissue must be objectively assessed. Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is one of the most promising tools to do this. This review discusses the most recent publications concerning the several MRI-based techniques available for the assessment of engineered tissue constructs and the current applications of MRI in TE.
