Description
Summary:Proverbs and idioms, which give general information about society due to their function of transferring the culture, are also an important resource in the field of management. A proverb, which has been passed down from one generation to another, reaches the present day, gives information about the lives of previous generations and allows us to make cultural transfers, is defined as a promising word that has been said based on long experiments and observations and has become public knowledge. An idiom is usually conceptualized as a stereotypical phrase which has a distinctive meaning that is slightly different from its real meaning. In this study, it is aimed to examine proverbs and idioms that have an important place in the cultural approaches in terms of power in Turkish culture. In the study, all the proverbs and idioms in Proverbs and Idioms Dictionary by Ömer Asım Aksoy (1998, 2007) were examined in terms of the concept and scope of power. As a result of the study, it is seen that the subject of power is widely mentioned in Turkish proverbs and idioms. It is concluded that there are proverbs and idioms for all power types in the literature including the concept of power. In addition, Hofstede's research, which is an important cultural study, was also examined within the scope of proverbs and idioms. The detailed information is widely discussed in the content of the study.
