So this study aimed to study the impact of educational intervention based on health belief model in order to prevent arbitrary use of drugs among women in health centers in Bandar Abbas. Methods: This study was interventional, semi-experimental and controlled (before and after). 180 women who referred to health centers have participated in this study and were divided randomly into two groups. The data collection method was a questionnaire based on Health Belief Model constructs and a checklist for self-medication use. The questionnaires were distributed before and after the intervention, and finally, after 4 months, the information of both groups was collected again and analyzed. The data were analyzed by SPSS version 19, paired t-test and independent t-test. Results were considered significant at p <0.05.ere Results: Findings showed that the constructs of health belief model on the arbitrary use of drugs and women's performance after educational intervention were significantly different; and the female performance score increased from 4.7 to 7.7.   Conclusion: The results indicated the effect of applying the health belief model on the prevention of arbitrary use in women. By increasing sensitivity, severity, benefits and perceived self-efficacy and reducing perceived barriers for arbitrary use of drugs, the level of women' self-treatment decreased.http://journal.ihepsa.ir/article-1-682-en.htmlhealth belief model (hbm)educationself-medicationwomen
