| Summary: | What kind of interest did the French press bear to the Greek Civil War in a moment when the whole country had to be restored? How did it interpret the event and present it to public opinion? One can distinguish three moments, from the beginning of 1946 to March 1947, from Mars 47 to June 48, and from July 48 to August 49. One can observe that the attitude of the various trends is formed according to the ideology and political choices and that it is related to the evolution of world public opinion as to the french political life. Each ideological family judges according to its attitude towards the new international order, mainly after the beginning of the Cold War. For both opposing camps, communist and anticommunist, the Greek Civil War is the evidence of the criminal plans of the opposing bloc. The press therefore reflects the way the French people live the beginning of the Cold War. |
