This comprehensive approach seems to be an innovative solution to the question of management of tourism which is a priority sector for the regional development, in the strict meaning of the word, for many regions of Europe. The article presents the structure of ETIS and the idea of its implementation – understood as a process – along with the notes from the regions which participated in the pilot phase of the project. The parallel assumption of the article is to disseminate the idea of sustainable tourism management in a region via the implementation of ETIS, which uses an interdisciplinary approach, thus enabling the competitiveness of the region to increase on the present-day, highly saturated, global tourism market.https://wnus.edu.pl/ept/en/issue/76/article/483/sustainable tourism developmentinnovation in tourism management
