Stakheyev’s novels Students and Inextinguishable Light in terms of their correspondence to the theological triad “sin – repentance – salvation”. The scientific novelty of the study lies in the fact that the works of D.I. Stakheyev were, for the first time, considered on the presence of the great sinner myth in them. Research methods. To achieve the goal, the following theoretical research methods were applied: analysis of philosophical, psychological, sociological literature on the topic of research as well Russian literature of the nineteenth century; synthesis for the study of advanced philosophical, literary experiments examining the great sinner myth, acquiring an in-depth understanding of the theological triad and obtaining an integral picture of the process under study; abstraction when studying the influence of the great sinner myth on the evolution of characters in the novels of D.I. Stakheyev; the cultural-historical method in the interpretation of fiction; sociocultural method when considering the great sinner myth in a broader perspective using the literary context; the typological approach that allows stating the typological commonness of characters being characterized by having features of the theological triad. The results of the study. The phenomenon considered in the article is a phenomenon of a higher order, a kind of “superplot”, which can easily fit into a variety of subjects that satisfy a single requirement: the potential correspondence to the theological triad “sin – repentance – salvation” [5]. In the works of D.I. Stakheyev, not all sinners, like A.P. Razmashilov (Inextinguishable Light), S.S. Golubev (Students), implement the archaeological theological triad. Thus, in the novel Inextinguishable Light it is P.P. Podberezin that is devoid of repentance as well as Yastrebinsky in the novel Students. Therefore, we can state the emergence of new types of heroes-sinners. Practical implications. The data obtained can be used to further illuminate the issue of the conformity of certain works of the theological triad “sin – repentance – salvation”; in the development of school abstracts and optional classes both on the works of D.I. Stakheyev and other authors; when developing academic lectures and practical assignments in Literary Studies or Regional Studies.http://journal-s.org/index.php/mrsp/article/view/12781миф о великом грешникебогословская триадарусская литература хiх в.д.и. стахеев«студенты»«неугасающий свет»
