Description
Summary:As the editors of a scientific journal, we have the honor of front‐row seats to the peer review process. We watch as reviewers bring fresh perspectives to authors' work, identifying weakness in conception or expression, suggesting refinements, and urging authors to clarify a point or better support an argument. The process is occasionally uncomfortable but almost always respectful and constructive. The final papers are uniformly better for this input—a reminder of the power of collaboration. At the Journal of Advances in Modeling Earth Systems (JAMES), we are fortunate to have a pool of reviewers who volunteer their time, knowledge, and intelligence to improve the work of their colleagues and peers. It is no small task: In 2020, we received 956 reviews by 634 individuals. Speaking for ourselves, the 19 devoted associate editors, and many of our authors, we thank each of you for your selfless contributions to strengthening our community.
