Summary:This paper describes how the Environmental Superintendence has applied Compliance Environmental Programs. Statistics show that these programs have been widely used in Chile. Environmental Superintendence practice and Court decisions have contribute to define different aspects of its regulation. In this context, this paper focuses on the contribution that third parties can make in defining the content and scope of these programs. Finally, taking into account the recent development of the Compliance Programs, and the options that third parties have to participate on its application, the paper analyzes the reasons why the Compliance Program can be an adequate tool to solve environmental conflicts.
