Summary: | The article is devoted to the study
of the problem on a favorable social environment in the writings of one of
the founders of psychiatry and psychology at Podillia Jozef (Joseph) Rolle.
The influence of the social environment on the mental health of people, the
importance of social factors and culture are analyzed.
According to J. J. Rolle, constant geopolitical changes and sociopolitical reforms kept the social mood and the mental state of people in a
constant tired expectation, in a constantly painful upheaval, and served as
a source of general tension, that contributed to the emergence of nervous
and mental illness.
The scientific interests of the scientist were not limited to medicine; the
meticulous look of a specialist-historian allowed him to notice and analyze
even such facts or patterns that could be left out of the scientific search of a
talented doctor, however, deprived of access to the historical information.
It is also identified the main directions of Joseph Rolle’s scientific research, in particular, regarding the problems of popularizing sanitary and
hygienic knowledge among the inhabitants of the region, the establishment
of proper safety and health at work, the relationship of health and disease
at various social levels.
The trends of Podillia scholar J. Rolle’s ideas are examined, the
author’s approaches toward the study on the human psyche focusing on biological and social factors of human life are revealed |
