Summary: | The adaptation of classics is a very productive resource in the young audience literary system and nowadays we can observe two different forms of appropriation of the canon: the transposition to another textual genre, such as the comics, and the creation of original narratives having as basis a classic piece of work. This second option is the case of “Todos contra Dante” (2008), de Luís Dill. Instead of a mere summary or paraphrase, it establishes a very productive intertextual relationship with the “Divine comedy”, by Dante Alighieri. By employing textual strategies that blur the frontiers between “high” and “low” culture and, this narrative attends the young readers’ expectations, respecting their preferences and tastes. At the same time, it challenges them, by imposing some difficulties which not only make the text more complex but also help the readers build new reading competencees and enlarge their cultural background. |
