Summary:The article deals with the cultural analysis of the fiction text (novels by Mel’nikov- Pecherskiy “V Lesakh” and “Na Gorakh”) aiming to reveal the conceptual point of the basic cultural concept “Food” in Russian culture. The process of cooking and eating is a part of people’s everyday life and beyond no doubt it has the reflection in literature. Fiction text as well as language means (idioms, sayings) can represent basic cultural concepts including concept “Food”. The choice of the novel for the analyses is caused by the fact, that Mel’nikov-Pecherskiy gives a detailed description of Russian traditional life and culture and also mentions food. The cultural analyses of the text stated the main items, which refers to the conceptual point of the concept “Food” in Russian culture. They are traditional Russian food products, eating customs. The main Russian food products are: shchi, pancakes, kisel', porridge, honey, kvas, fish, mushrooms, cakes. Food also has a symbolic meaning.
