What are the consequences of this transformation on the daily social work? This article explores some of them on the type of relief relationship born of this metamorphosis: the endless support, in both meanings of without previous purpose and duration. From mutations experienced by the social emergency sector since 2007, the fieldwork, which took place in Paris between 2009 and 2011, focuses on the hardships faced by practitioners working in long-duration accommodation. It shows how they overcome the tensions they encounter through being in the continuous presence of people to help, either by revisiting empowerment practices or hardening of counterparts. The fieldwork aims to examine more generally the forms taken by autonomy in indefinite duration social intervention practices.http://journals.openedition.org/sociologies/5458Relief relationshipTemporalitiesHardshipsAccommodationAutonomy |
