Description
Summary:The object of analysis is the project of an early treatise on Imprese by the Royal Chronicler of the Indies Gonzalo Fernández de Oviedo (1478-1557) as sketched in his unfinished Libro del blasón. Fernández de Oviedo's interest in the Imprese is explained as being the result of his contacts with both the Hispanic-Italian culture in which he was brought up, and the self-fashioning modes of knights and courtiers in the Imperial period of Charles V.
