Description
Summary:Since the late eighties, the term "sustainable development" has become common parlance. Nevertheless, the prospects of the practical political aplication of that concept depend on the stage of operation which often represents a crucial obstacle. This is particularly true of the dynamic sector of tourism where such deficiences can still be found. Therefore, the object of this article is, taking selected key indicators and the specific problems in Third World countries as a starting point, the development of an analytical tool in order to evaluate the state of tourism development relating to the demands of sustainability. In the final analysis its applicability is exemplified by the known Mexican tourism resort of Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo.
