Summary:This investigation is conducted to determine the effectiveness of Textbook 1, currently in use in all intermediate schools for boys in Saudi Arabia. There are two primary purposes of this study: to provide feedback to educators in general and teachers. teachers trainees and administrators in particular; and to increase the awareness and involvement of teachers, curriculum designers and whoever is concerned with school activities. The data for analyzing and criticizing the textbook are: publisher's claims included in the introduction of the teacher‘s book; and the contents of the Pupil‘s Book such as vocabulary, expressions and the subject matter as a whole. Criteria for the analysis are the theoretical, empirical and practical findings set forth by numerous specialists in the field of TEFL.
