Summary:The Health Informatics in Brazil is an area that dawn on the academic and scientific horizon in a promising way and attracting professionals from various academics segments and that aims at training courses a wide training that gives it competence of performance. This study has an exploratory and descriptive character. It attempts of bibliographic search performed with base on the analysis and interpretation of articles, dissertations and theses. The present research aims to verify the importance informatics on health and its application to teaching and learning process in higher education courses in public institutions. We conclude that there is a necessity of investment and application of these courses in other regions of Brazil, and the initiative of offering such distance courses provides better access to these courses.
