Description
Summary:Why do The Winter’s Tale (1609) and The Tempest (1611) still make us laugh nowadays ? What does it tell us about our understanding of Shakespeare’s plays and our understanding of the world that is ours ? This paper will examine the Shakespearean texts in the light of those who, whatever their culture and era, endeavoured to think out laughter as peculiar to man, as part of his existential dimension, paying particular attention to Sibony’s recent analysis in Les Sens du rire et de l'humour (2010).
