Summary:The aim of this study was to investigate the harmony between defense mechanism styles and religious among two groups of girl and boy students. Participants were 798 students (423 girls and 375 boys) of Tehran universities that were studied non-medical undergraduate major and they were chosen by available sampling method. Instruments were used in this study were Defense Style Questionnaire- 40 for measing defense mechanisms and religious belief scale of Golzari. Data were analyzed by using Pearson correlation and independent T-test. Results showed a positive correlation between adaptive defense mechanisms and religious beliefs whiles there was a negative correlation between maladaptive defense mechanisms and religious beliefs.  There was a significant difference (P>0.05) between religious beliefs variables and adaptive defenses style, while there was not a significant difference in maladaptive defense style between two groups of girls and boys. Also religious beliefs in girls were more than boys and girls using adaptive defense mechanism more than boys.
