Almost all the methods currenty available has its application to more detailed phase of design process, aiming to size components and specific systems. Simplified methods, when available, are based on physical models rarely suitable to more general conditions. This paper focusses a simplified method to assess thermal performance of one-storey building. The method is based on data obtained from simulation of the thermal performance a typical room, and typical building materials used by the COHAB-PE, under the climatic conditions of the Metropolitan Area of Recife. The thermal performance of the room was determined by NBSLD - National Bureau of Standards Load Determination, based on the room thermal response factorhttp://revistas.usp.br/posfau/article/view/136179
