Summary: | This research work seeks to analyze the migratory process caused by the flow of Paraguayan migrants to Spain in the period 2002-2016, with respect to the objective of sustainable
development 8, which states “to promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full productive employment, and decent work for all”. In order to achieve this objective, based
on historical emigration that is mostly female, it is necessary to empower Paraguayan women in terms of the availability of decent work, and the possibility of obtaining stable income, in
order to guarantee a better quality of life. For the purposes of the investigation, the mixed modality was used, because reports of the National Institute of Statistics and the International
Organization for Migration were first used. Subsequently, a questionnaire was applied to a total random sample of 30 people, in order to collect data on the migratory process experienced by
them. Among the main results, the search for decent and stable employment as well as the suffering of a pressing economic situation as the main causes of emigration, a lower perceived
remuneration for women in relation to male migrants, and the desire to meet again with their families as a common motive for migrants to return to Paraguay. Finally, the need to elaborate
labor policies that protect and equate women with their male peers is exposed, and thus avoid migrating to other countries in search, precisely, of a better quality of life. |
