Summary: | A 12-year-old boy, with no significant medical history, presented with an asymptomatic lesion within his right middle ear on routine otoscopy. Examination demonstrated a white mass medial to the tympanic membrane, where the tympanic membrane is lifted off the mass with nasal Valsalva maneuver. CT demonstrated a bony plate arising from the posterior-superior tympanic ring in the region of the chordal eminence. This case describes an atypical middle ear bony anomaly not yet described in the literature which should be considered in the differential diagnoses of a white mass behind an intact tympanic membrane. |
