At first it presents a reconstruction of its historical development from its origins in the 1970s in the fields of Social Work and adult education to its current developments in popular education, both in social movements and in the university environment. Secondly, the senses that animate it and its epistemic and methodological foundations -interpretive, critical and participatory research- are synthesized; then it describes the methodological process for carrying out a systematization, presenting the decisions and operations specific to each investigative stage.
