The objective of this article is to bring the figure of the composer Juan Francisco Gómez de Navas up to date, compiling, arranging and contrasting all the information that has been published thus far about the composer’s life and incorporating new information discovered at the Archivo General de Palacio (Expedientes Personales section) and the Archivo Histórico Nacional. On the other hand, his output is revised by establishing a detailed inventory, including information about extant music sources and their concordances with literary sources.
