Summary:The paper deals with the value outlook of the Italian anti-fascist writer A. Moravia which is revealed through the manifestation of the romano/romana image in his works of fiction. The political and socio-cultural constituent – the established fascist regime inItalyof the 1920s – expands the conceptual space of the studied image and allows to form a picture of a Roman resident as a mouthpiece of the pre-war Italian culture.
