Description
Summary:In this paper, we should like to mention the evolution of our thinking on the computerization of Féraud's 'Dictionaire critique' (Marseilles: Mossy, 1787). For the last two years the project has been actively seeking financial support and evaluation. The paper we gave at the conference of two years ago presented a first model of text encoding. Much attention has been given during the intervening months of reflection to the various suggestions made to us. We all know that a computerization project can be undertaken with various levels of enrichment. The essential is that the capture be accurate and complete, that it allow for later enrichment and that it not take up too much of the researchers' time. We shall therefore mention the difficulty of optimizing the task in the light of the limited means of a multi-vocational team. Furthermore, the question of the purpose of a computerized Féraud is crucial, and interferes with the last point. This question will be the main focus of the paper.
