Tracing the Jaunez family genealogy as of the 17th century, the author demonstrates that three generations of the family were somehow or other connected with Russia. A. O. Jaunez-Sponville’s grandfather was Count A. K. Razumovsky’s son’s tutor in Moscow, his uncle participated in Napoleon’s Grande Armée’s invasion of Russia and perished at Berezina, and his father served as A.N. Demidov’s secretary. |
