Summary:The purpose of this work is to investigate the construction of the intellectual that the independence press published in Chile between the years 1812 to 1818 assembled and disseminated. To do this, the review begins with the paradigmatic La Aurora de Chile, and concludes with El Duende de Santiago. The question that guides the work, is: in what way and through what knowledge did the first Chilean newspapers configure the patriotic lawyer? The critical reading of the journals considered for the corpus was designed taking as a starting point Carlos Ossandón (1998), Rebecca Earle (2004), Alvaro Kaempfer (2006; 2017), Jorge Myers (2008) and Annick Lempérière (2008).
