Summary: | The crystal structure of the binuclear title compound, [Cu2(C12H11NO7)2(C12H8N2)2], consists of a complex molecule, which lies about a crystallographic inversion centre with one half-molecule in the asymmetric unit. The CuII cation is bonded to three N atoms and three O atoms, in a Jahn–Teller-distorted octahedral geometry. The basal plane is defined by the two N atoms from the 1,10-phenathroline and two deprotonated O atoms of the polycarboxylate ligand. The axial positions are occupied by the azane N atom and a bridging carboxylate O atom from the second polycarboxylate ligand. The complex molecules are linked through O—H...O hydrogen bonds into extended chains running parallel to [010]. |
