Some Aspects Regarding Settlement Typology in Drăgoiasa-Tulgheş Depression Alignment. The emergence of rural settlements in Drăgoiasa-Tulgheş depression alignment is tightly linked to the habitation phases of the area, the main stages taking place depending on the social-economic and historicalpolitical conditions that determined the types of settlements and their generations. The transcarpathian migration fluxes, movements due to agricultural herding and other economic, social, political and military phenomena determined several changes in the settlements’ territorial evolution. With the emergence of the Romanian industrial revolution, the phenomenon known as swarming intensified. In the territory at hand, swarmings were oriented along the main waterways of Bistricioara and Neagra, as well as their tributaries. Due to the development of wood processing as an industry, the settlements’ territorial development gained new attributes, especially at the end of the 19th century, when the development was oriented primarily along the main communication routes and at their intersections, where the technical-economic endowments created favourable conditions for a more intense productive activity. The deforestation process, started long ago, advanced, by the end of the 19th century, to the tributary valleys of the main waterways, creating large clearings, transforming the wooded massifs, at first into grazable forests, and then into pastures, hayfields and land suitable for settlements. By analysing historical documents, we may conclude that the hearths of some settlements such as Păltiniş were „mother-hearths”, from which people left and created new settlements (Drăgoiasa, Glodu, Catrinari).
