Reflexões médicas sobre as condições de saúde da população escrava no Brasil do século XIX
In the course of the nineteenth century, mainly after the formal prohibition of the slave trade in 1831, part of the medical elite strived to show how farmers could improve the health of their slaves. The intellectual basis for their proposals to reach this end is analyzed in this article.
