Description
Summary:The authors describe three Finnish resettlement areas situated in Mid-Ostrobothnia at the watershed‑area of Suomenselkä. The main features of the post‑war colonization in Finland are treated. The three sample areas are surveyed from the point of natural conditions, advancement of the pioneering and land‑use. Finally two farms from the Miiluranta‑resettlement area are treated in greater detail. In conclusion it is stressed that the post‑war colonization of Finland must be seen in the context of the problems of that time. The present agricultural policy has taken a rather opposite direction compared to that of the late 1940s, 1950s and early 1960s.
