Summary:Currently the Russian Federation is carrying out open military aggression against Ukraine using various means of forming public opinion in different regions in order to destabilize socio-political and economic situation in the country. In peacetime scientific research on the formation of public opinion were aimed at ensuring interests of certain parties during election campaigns. In the context of information confrontation intensification there is a need to change the role of information influence on forming public opinion. Today, in fact, there is an information war on the territory of Ukraine. Therefore it is important to study the mechanism of public opinion formation by means of information influence under the conditions of separatism, terrorism and open military aggression. The article touches upon the subject-matter, content and function of public opinion. It also reveals the mechanism of its formation and influence on the process of social and political decision-making. Moreover, the author has analyzed the basic forms, methods and techniques of information influence on public opinion. He has also studied the issues of enemy information influence on public opinion of the Ukrainian society amd the mechanism of various sectors of Ukrainian population public opinion formation due to information influence under the conditions of today's internal and external military aggression against independent Ukraine.
