Description
Summary:Journalism influences and interferes in attitudes and representations of several issues of society, including health. Based on the news coverage on public health services, this article examines how and in what manner the Unified Health System (SUS) is portrayed by the print media in Goiania. The study is conducted from news collected during a semester in three daily newspapers in the capital in an attempt to identify which issues are discussed and how health services managed by the city of Goiania appear in print. Based on a quantitative and qualitative analysis of the contents of these materials, the research points towards certain ignorance on the part of the set of services provided by SUS media whose main focus of news coverage is health units, leaving aside the other services provided.
