| Summary: | J R. Commons proposes an original conception of the economic temporality based on the principle of futurity. It is a major contribution to economic analysis. In a first section, the principle of futurity will be presented in its generality. In the following one will be examined how this principle is the foundation of the commonsian theory of the economic action. Then, a section will be dedicated to institutional content of the futurity ordering the economic activity. Finally, the fundamental role played by futurity in the characterization of intangible capital, the most modern form of capital, will be highlighted. |
