Summary: | In Brazil, even if still in its first steps, the coming together of Environmental Health Surveillance and Primary Health Care represents an important strategy in searching for comprehensive health care, since it takes, as an organizational basis, the recognition of territories from the local dimension of daily life. This study aimed to develop and implement a reading strategy on the relationship between health and environment, city of Porto Alegre / Brazil, in order to enable partnerships with / between workers from the Environmental Health Surveillance Team and Health Communitary Agents from Family Health Strategies. Reading on the relationship between health and environment, this proposal integrates historical, spatial and collective situations, starting from process and mapping ideas which are dynamic and never finished. The cartography gesture was thus established as the main tool for this proposal of reading, reaching not only physical space, but also identities, practices and experiences. The participative approach of action-research and from observant participation was conceived as the main strategy for this study. The proposed reading on the relationship between health and environment in the study area allowed served as a starting point for the evaluation and monitoring of specific situations of interest to Environmental Health.
