The data were obtained by ophthalmological examination.<br /><strong>Results:</strong> the most affected age group was 50 years and over; the female sex predominated, the most prevalent refractive errors were compound hyperopic astigmatism and presbyopia; hypertensive patients prevailed. The most indicated optical correction was progressive lenses; the patients who attended the consultation the most were teachers.<br /><strong>Conclusions:</strong> the detection and characterization of patients diagnosed with diabetes and hypertension in consultation is necessary for a better control of the ocular health status.</p>http://medisur.sld.cu/index.php/medisur/article/view/4757errores de refracciónestudiantes del área de la saludpersonal de saludhipertensióndiabetes mellitus
