Summary:This article analyzes public registry, the laws about it and the several computational concepts applied to them. We analyze the Brazilian Public Key Infrastructure - ICP-Brazil, the institution by the provisional measure 2.200 of 08/24/2001, the structure, the critical to this model and the current applications with such certificates in this structure as well. Finally, there is a comparison between the services and expertise provided by the ICP-Brazil and by the notary service, in a computerized and connected society, called Information Society. We present the common services and the others, as well as new services to be provided by the digital notary office. The theme has full relevance in a world with multiples applications that appear growing every day based in digital certification and also with conected notarial databases. At the end, we discussed the roles to be performed by each of them, the digital notary and ICP- Brazil, and the care to be taken for the scanning of the information from public records.
