Description
Summary:Classification of wear process can be done according to different viewpoints. Wear mechanisms should not be mixed with wear types. Study of tribology must incorporate a detailed understanding of the mechanics of contact of solid bodies. In most contact situations, it is found mixture of both elastic plastic deformations. Thus, the loads applied to solids in contact may induce elastic behaviour in the bulk of the solid bodies, localised plastic deformation at asperity tips and affects wear properties of the mechanical system.
