Summary:The sum of experiences and practices gathered under the collective term of «end of life» should not only be conceived and treated as a medical issue, or an economic one, nor of a psychological one. It should also be conceived as a political issue, namely one involving the responsibilities of the State and pertaining outright to human governance. It is this political issue –covered on one hand by the medical technoscience and by the ideology of personal choice on the other hand– which should be reinstated at its proper place, that is to say at the forefront.
