In this research “Academic Incentive Grant Regulations” which is implemented since 2016, that makes amendments in the Law of Higher Education Staff and published in the Resmî Gazete, No. 6564, dated November 14, 2014 are examined in the context of the selected motivation theories. Case study was conducted in the study. Sampling was determined by contrast sampling, and maximum variation sampling methods and consist of 10 academic staff who receive or not academic incentive grant. According to the research results, although opinions which are related to context-content motivation theories are generally positive, opinions related to process and contemporary theories are generally negative. It is recommended that academic incentive grant should be revised and new research, which include more participants and is conducted with academics who are working in different universities and faculties should be conducted.http://higheredu-sci.beun.edu.tr/pdf.php3?id=1770Academic incentive grantMotivation theoriesAcademic personnel
